On 31st March 1985, Soviet climate scientist Vladimir Aleksandrov vanished while on a trip to Madrid.
Vladimir was attending a conference on the effects of nuclear war on the environment. His specialty was atmospheric modelling. He was one of a group of international scientists who pioneered computer simulations of our atmosphere.
So far the investigation has taken place mainly over Zoom and the internet during the Pandemic. But now it is time to venture out and meet people face to face.
Our film is the last chance to find the people involved, and try to uncover what exactly happened to Vladimir in Spain.
While looking for a motive to his murder, we have uncovered a scientific community fighting to hold onto truth against a tide of disinformation and manipulation.
This film is also a reflection on memory, truth and legacy. As humans we are desperately trying to control our existence and make a mark on history.
We will meet many great people, from politicians to scientists, as they reflect on their lives and achievements, but they live under the shadow of a murder that happened in their community. What is the cost of human knowledge and progress?
This film will be a journey into the heart of the scientific community around the world to observe a fascinating and insular society who are the brains of our planet.
It will also be a fascinating observation of two opposing cultures Russia and America - and how different, and how similar they are.
Here is a teaser made during lockdown. A taste of things to come.

It is urgent that we complete the investigation as soon as possible
because the eye witnesses are getting very old. One person is 92!
Become friends and collaborators!
I have been on this investigation for two years now, I am getting very close to the truth. So tantalisingly close that I am now reaching out for help.
Getting investigative journalism funded is very, very hard. There are very few grants available especially for cold cases. But this story is important and the injustice cannot be ignored.
This is the last chance for us to be able to collect the testimonies since may of the witnesses are getting very old.
An innocent scientist was murdered and brushed under the carpet. How can this be allowed to happen? This is the foundations of journalism, to uncover the truth and not allow events like this to be forgotten.
I am a team of one running this show, from website design, production and investigation. At the moment, I need travel costs, archive access, subscriptions, and some camera rental.
The discoveries of the investigation will be published in a major news outlet, and become the backbone of the documentary. I will keep everyone up to date regularly on where it leads.
I have set out below a guideline for donations, any and all help will sincerely be appreciated!
That’s it so far, but I know I can get to the bottom of all this with your help!
